Golf

Club Amenity Cards are required to play golf on Seabrook Island’s courses.

The Seabrook Island Club offers 36-holes of championship golf on its two unique and different courses – Crooked Oaks and Ocean Winds. As a certified member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for golf courses, care is taken to ensure that while golfing you will be surrounded by beautiful, undisturbed natural settings. Hone your game by taking private or group instruction from the PGA professionals. Or shop for the latest fashions, equipment, and accessories in the well-stocked Pro Shop.

Tennis

Club Amenity Cards are required to play golf on Seabrook Island’s courses.

Seabrook Island’s Racquet Club is a vibrant center featuring 15 state of the art Har-Tru courts, top quality conditions and a great balance of social, instructional and competitive choices for all levels of tennis players. Challenging clinics, informative lessons, and a large variety of social and competitive tennis allows players of all levels to enjoy this fine facility.

Check out the vacation getaway packages and camps available all year round. Don’t forget to visit the fully stocked shop featuring a constantly rotating stock of merchandise and equipment for children, women, and men.

Horseback Ride/Feed Horses

Open to all residents and guests. Amenity Cards are not required to enjoy the Equestrian Center.

Did you know you can ride a horse on Seabrook Island’s beaches? The renowned Equestrian Center caters to riders of all skill levels and ages with guided trail rides, beach rides, pony rides, and riding lessons. Bring carrots and apples to feed the horses grazing in the fields by the gate house. Home to many award winning riders, the staff and horses at the Equestrian Center are top notch. Take advantage of the riding packages offered by this fine facility year round. What a great way to see Seabrook Island! The Equestrian Center books up quickly — please plan to book well in advance.

All are encouraged to visit the horses that graze in the fields just inside the gate. Bring carrots or apples and share them with the horses. Please only feed the horses nearest to the Gate House. If posted “Do Not Feed,” please do not offer food as these horses are on special diets.

Seabrook Island’s Beaches

Seabrook Island has over 3.5 miles of beautiful, uncrowded beaches. They are easily accessible by taking any of the 11 walks from Oyster Catcher Court to beyond the clubhouse on Seabrook Island Road. Each walk is marked at its beginning and end by a large post with its number clearly marked. The paths wander through dunes and wax myrtles. Many of the walks are boarded; others are sandy paths. There is public parking at the head of each walk and at the Island House. It is illegal to park in villa, cottage, or town home parking lots unless you are staying there or on Seabrook Island Road in front of a home. It is okay to park in front of undeveloped lots, however. Unless you have a permanent bar code on your car, do not park in the large parking lot by the SIPOA Community Center on Oyster Catcher Court or you will be ticketed.

North Beach

North Beach is the beach to go to if you (1) want to see a beautiful sunrise,North Beach Chairs (2) run your pup on the Dog Beach, (3) enjoy a day of lounging on a wide and uncrowded piece of sand, (4) see the dolphin’s strand feed, or (5) easily access the beach with your bike. North Beach is accessible using Walks 1 & 2 on Oyster Catcher Court, and Walks 3-8. On Oyster Catcher Court, the large parking lot is reserved for cars with permanent bar codes. Guests may park on the pad on the street. To get to Walk 1, go through the parking lot. This wide boardwalk also has a path that is easy to bike down. The other Walks all have parking pads off of Seabrook Island Road. Parking is permitted in front of undeveloped lots only.

The Beach Club is the place to be in the summertime! Pools, plenty of lounge chairs, the Pelican’s Nest restaurant, an arcade Seabrook Beachroom, and access to the beach make this the perfect place to set your towel down for a day of relaxation. If you’re an early bird, the sun will rise to your left. Turn to the right in the evening and watch the glorious evening sky turn bright orange.

Pelican Beach

Pelican Beach is located where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Edisto River. It faces west so it is best know for it’s amazing sunsets. Pelican Beach has gentle lapping waves making it the perfect choicePelican Beach Sunset for young children to swim. Shrimp boats from Rock Hall, sailboats, and dolphin will all float by while you are relaxing under the sun. Access using Walk 9 or park at the Island House and take the path (with a short set of stairs) by the traffic circle. Wander down the beach toward the quiet sands in front of Camp St. Christopher. This untamed area is a glimpse of island life long ago.

Because Seabrook values its natural environment, there are large set backs for homes on our beaches. Accordingly, most Walks will be at least a 5 minute stroll from where you park your car. If you require handicap access, please call Security (843-768-0822) and they can open the gate for the vehicle access path that runs along Walk 1 on North Beach. There are shorter walks closer to the Island House. Seabrook’s sands are suitable for bike riding, but please, no bike riding on any of the Walks.

Kayaking and Canoeing

Rentals guests are welcome to launch kayaks/canoes from the ramp located on Cap’n Sam’s Road. Turn at the sign for the Fire House and follow to the end.

Crabbing

Located just passed the Kayak/Canoe launch, Seabrook’s crab dock was rebuilt in 2012. Bring your chicken necks and string and try your hand at catching crabs off the dock. This is also a great place to watch the fiddler crabs, shore birds, and ever changing tidal marsh. Kids love hanging out here!

Hiking

Seabrook Island Natural History Group (SINHG), in conjunction with Seabrook Island Property Owners Association (SIPOA), maintains 4 walking trails on Seabrook Island. These trails, rated from 1 to 5 in difficulty, are a great way to explore beyond the beaches and roadways of Seabrook. The four trails are Hidden Oak Nature Trail, Old Drake Nature Trail, Six Ladies Nature Trail, and Bobcat Dune Nature Walk. SINHG Trails-Brochure,View Brochure.

St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center

Outdoor Encounters is an outdoor ministry of St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center. Since 2010 Outdoor Encounters has been providing guests of St. Christopher, as well as visitors to Seabrook and Kiawah, with an opportunity to explore the creation that abounds in and around St. Christopher. Whether you are looking to have a peaceful nature hike through our pristine maritime forest, a tranquil paddle through the quiet waters of the salt marsh, or take your youth group on an overnight kayaking and camping trip to grow closer to God through nature, Outdoor Encounters has something to offer! Angel Oak

The Angel Oak is a spectacular Southern live oak tree believed to be almost 1500 years old. This is one of the oldest and largest live oak trees known to exist. Several picnic tables and a small gift shop are located in the area. Well worth the detour off of Main Road just before you reach Maybank Highway.

Charleston Tea Plantation

Wadmalaw Charleston Tea Plantation – Home of American Classic Tea, the only tea grown in America, it is located on picturesque Wadmalaw Island in the heart of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. Its grounds include 127 acres of Camellia Sinensis tea plants, a working Tea Factory and a charming Plantation Gift Shoppe. Firefly Vodka and Distillery TourFirefly Distillery & Deep Water Vineyards

North Charleston – Come experience Southern hospitality at South Carolina’s only distillery. Visit the Firefly Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka tasting room or tour the beautiful Deep Water Vineyards. Patriots Point

Patriots Point, on the Charleston Harbor in Mount Pleasant, SC, is home of Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum and a fleet of National Historic Landmark ships, including the USS Yorktown, Cold War Memorial and the only Vietnam Support Base Camp in the U.S. Patriots Point is also headquarters to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the agency’s official Medal of Honor Museum.

Piccolo and Spoleto

In late May/early June, Charleston comes alive with the arts when the Piccolo and Spoleto festivities begin. Music, art, dance, theater – it is all happening on the streets and in every imaginable venue in the city. This is a feast for the eyes and the ears.

SC Aquarium

After years of careful research and restoration, McLeod Plantation Historic Site invites visitors to embark upon an in-depth exploration of the lives of those people whose stories are essential to understanding Charleston’s complex past and helped shape who we, as a nation, are today.

Drayton Hall

James Island – The main house is considered one of the finest examples of Georgian-Palladian architecture in the United States. In addition, the grounds represent one of the most significant, undisturbed historic landscapes in America.

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

Just down the road from Drayton Hall lies Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has also survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold, from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry and the oldest public garden in America.

Middleton Place

Guided tours of the Middleton Place House Museum, built in 1755 as a gentlemen’s guest wing, interpret the Middleton family’s role in American history. And a visit to the Plantation Stableyards offers a look into 18th and 19th century working plantation life. Today, as they did then, the gardens represent the Lowcountry’s most spectacular expression of an 18th-century ideal—the triumphant marriage between man and nature.

Charleston Tea Plantation

Charleston Tea Plantation, the only tea farm in America, offers visitors a look into the daily operations of a working, living plantation. Located on Wadmalaw Island just outside Charleston, the history here focuses on the Camellia sinensis, or tea plants.

Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens

Located in Mount Pleasant, Boone Hall is one of America’s oldest working plantations. It has been growing and producing crops for more than 320 years. Once known for cotton and pecans, Boone Hall actively produces strawberries, tomatoes, pumpkins and many other fruits and vegetables.
