Dolphins Near Captain Sam’s Inlet

Head to this part of the island near the Kiawah River and spend a sunny afternoon observing the Atlantic Bottlenosed Dolphin. These majestic creatures can be found in pods, usually chasing boats or wading around in the area’s waterways. Strand feeding, an activity in which dolphins leap onto the shore to eat, is popular at this site. Head to this spot during late April to take part in the annual Dolphin Count, a free event in which locals and visitors track the number of dolphins and their movements. We suggest stopping by at low tide, as that usually yields the best views. Swimming in this inlet is illegal when dolphins are present, so we suggest maintaining a respectful distance from the shore during your visit. Loggerhead Sea Turtles

Seabrook Island’s sea turtles can be found nesting on many of the area’s beaches. Turtle nesting season runs from the beginning of May till the end of October here in Seabrook Island, which gives you plenty of time to see the occasions.
