Are you searching for the perfect place to take a vacation this year where you can take the whole family along—even the four-legged members? Well, you’re in luck. Seabrook Island, South Carolina, is the ideal destination for pet lovers.
Coastal Getaways of South Carolina is the leader in pet-friendly rentals on Seabrook Island. Ready to see all the activities you can partake in with Fido here?
Let’s explore all the ins and outs of planning a pet-friendly vacation to Seabrook Island!
Take Your Furry Friend to the Beach
One sure way to tire out your pup is to take him to the beach. The good news is that Seabrook Island is one of the few beaches in the Charleston area that allows dogs year-round. So, you can take your pup here no matter what time of year you visit!
Both beaches on Seabrook Island, North Beach, and Pelican Beach, permit dogs. There are some rules to keep in mind, however! Read through the full list of rules on the town of Seabrook’s website so you and your furry friend keep your paws out of trouble.
Dogs are allowed at all times during the day but must be leashed from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during peak season ( April 1st-September 30th ) in the general beach area (marked green). Visit earlier in the morning or later in the evening if you want to let your pup off leash!
Visit a Pet-Friendly Restaurant in South Carolina
You don’t have to leave your pet behind when you’re making your dinner plans. Enjoy the culinary delights of the Lowcountry without leaving your pet behind! Many restaurants near Seabrook Island feature outdoor seating areas where pets are welcome. Bring along a water bowl and ensure your pet is on their best behavior so you can both savor a relaxing meal.
Freshfields Village is a great place to visit with your pup. This open-air mall is a perfect place to take your pup for a stroll. There are plenty of spots here to take Fido, whether you want to grab an ice cream cone at Ben & Jerry’s or sit down for a coffee on Java Java’s outdoor patio. Dolittle’s Pet Boutique is also a can’t-miss stop when visiting Freshfields.
Other dining options with outdoor patio options for you and your doggo:
Salty Dog Seabrook Island (they even have a gallery of all their doggy visitors!
Go On a Hike!
You’ll, of course, want to make sure your pet gets plenty of exercise while you’re on vacation. That won’t be an issue at all here! There are plenty of nature trails on Seabrook Island to explore.
Here are some of our favorite trails to traverse:
Old Drake Nature Trail:
A very short, easy trail for the whole family. Even your senior pups can tag along here! There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy nature, as well as scenic views of the marsh. Make sure to turn around once you hit the equestrian trail, though—you don’t want to be caught on a trail with the horses!
Hidden Oaks Nature Trail:
The most well-known trail on the island! Make sure your pup is on a leash, as you can spot plenty of wildlife here, from deer to a resident alligator in the small lagoon at the end of the trail. Don’t worry, he doesn’t venture out of the lagoon—but it is fun to try to spot him!
This trail is home to a beautiful live oak tree the locals call “The Kissing Tree.” This natural landmark earned its name due to the mouth-like shape visible on the tree’s backside, a feature that is still partially intact today. Come see It for yourself!
The trail offers a fairly easy hike, though two steep sections with steps might pose a challenge for some hikers. At the trail’s end, you can either retrace your route back along the path or take the roadway to return to the parking lot.
Six Ladies Nature Trail
This is the newest and most difficult trail on Seabrook Island! The path traverses old dunes, which makes it quite hilly. It can be hard to get your footing as the path can be slippery—proceed with caution! If you’re feeling up to the challenge, the overlook of the salt marsh and Cap’n Sam’s Creek is beautiful.

One of our favorite vacation activities is exploring nearby breweries. You can taste local brews, share laughs with friends, and have a relaxing afternoon in good company. Seabrook Island Breweries are no exception—you’ll find great beer and great people!
Searching for the perfect spot to try a new brew on your Seabrook Island Vacation? You’ve come to the right place. These are our favorite Seabrook Island Breweries!
Low Tide Brewery
Their motto is, “If you brew it, they will come,” and we couldn’t think of a better moniker for Low Tide Brewery. Located on John’s Island, this is one brewery you won’t want to miss!
Founder Mike Fielding always dreamed of owning his own brewery, and that dream became a reality in 2016 when he opened the doors of Low Tide Brewery to the community on March 12th. A kayaking trip around John’s Island inspired the name, and the brewery aims to inspire the community through a creative expression of a Lowcountry lifestyle.
They’re dedicated not just to brewing excellent beer but to providing a space to build community. You’ll feel like part of the Lowcountry family when you grab a beer here!
Low Tide’s beer selection is creative and delicious. Depending on your mood, you can indulge your creative side and try something brand new or settle for a classic. They’re committed to using quality ingredients, so every sip is sure to surpass your expectations.
Several food trucks frequent the brewery, so you’ll have delicious food to try if you get hungry. They also offer several fun events like trivia nights, bingo, and cornhole to keep you entertained!
Estuary Brewery
Another nearby brewery on John’s Island is Estuary Brewing Co. They have more than just beer, though! Estuary defines its business as an artisan beverage company. That means you can try more than just beer here—they have outstanding coffee, too!
Estuary prides itself on working with businesses both local and abroad to get their name out in the world and spread their message of quality and creativity. They recently collaborated with Bluntrock Brewery, located in Cornwall, UK, so we’d say their global ambitions are paying off!
The Estuary Team is experienced. Its founder, Scott Harrison, is also the founder and co-owner of Vail Brewing Company in Vail, Colorado. Other team members hail from Vail, while others are long-time residents of the Lowcountry.
Estuary has a rotating tap selection of 10-15 beers, so you’ll never get tired of the options! You can also opt for a flight if you want to try several on your Seabrook Island stay. Their wine and cocktail selection is impressive, too—ask your bartender about which weekly options are available when you stop in, as the menu often changes.
Check out their expansive coffee and tea menu if you’d prefer something more suitable for a morning pick-me-up. Their single-origin coffee beans are among the best you’ll find on Seabrook Island, and the baristas here make a latte you’ll be thinking about well beyond your trip!
Their care goes beyond their roasting and brewing, too. Check out the Drifter Project, an initiative aimed at helping wounded veterans and other disabled individuals get involved in sports like kiting.
Charleston Distilling Co.
Charleston Distilling Co. isn’t a brewery per se, but it has delicious alcoholic drinks! They distill a variety of liquors here: vodka, gin, and bourbon, just to name a few.
Their name is slightly misleading—Charleston Distilling Co. isn’t located in Charleston, after all. They, too, are located nearby on John’s Island!
Stop in for a distillery tour on Saturdays at 3, 4, or 5 PM to see the amazing distilling process! You’re sure to learn something new and exciting. Then, you can try the spirits in the distillery’s tasting room. If straight spirits aren’t your thing, they also have a creative list of cocktails to choose from.
If you get hungry while you’re here, no problem! There are several food trucks onsite to curb any cravings. Choose from a selection of yummy seafood, American fare, and more!

There’s no better feeling than stumbling across a new restaurant you love. Start your new vacation traditions this year by dining at these incredible restaurants on Seabrook Island. You’ll be counting down the days until you can come back!
Ready to dive in? Let’s do it! Here are our top picks for the best restaurants on Seabrook Island (and nearby!).
Saveurs Du Monde Seabrook
Having dinner at Saveurs Du Monde is quite the experience, and one you certainly won’t want to miss. This Seabrook restaurant opened its doors in 2014 and has won several awards since then.
Saveurs Du Monde is French for “tastes of the world,” and many different international cuisines inspire the restaurant’s menu! Owners Thierry and Christiane Chateau traveled the world on a catamaran for many years and lean heavily on that experience now in the restaurant.
This impressive restaurant offers everything from traditional French onion soup to more unique options like Octopus a la “Gallega” and boeuf bourguignon. Our mouths are watering just thinking about the chef’s special desserts, like Profiteroles. It’s one of our favorite restaurants on Seabrook Island, and we highly recommend it!
Pelican’s Nest
Located at the nearby Seabrook Island Beach Club, Pelican’s Nest is a top choice for many of our guests. If you’re looking for a place where you can watch a stunning sunset over the Atlantic (and maybe even catch a dolphin sighting or two), this is it! Plus, you’ll have a delicious meal while you’re at it.
The full-service, open-air bar at Pelican’s Nest is quite popular. In the kitchen, the Executive Chef features new menu options daily, so there’s always something new and exciting to try! These offerings always showcase seasonal, local ingredients and seafood specialties. We’re getting hungry just thinking about it!
Café Eugenia
Looking for something fast you can take on the go? You don’t have to sacrifice quality when looking for a takeaway option, and Café Eugenia proves that!
This grab-and-go gourmet market serves locally sourced, high-quality meals that are meant to be taken on the go. They offer options like salads, sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie, coffee, beer, wine, and more—the menu is ever-changing! While everything here is good, we’re partial to their charcuterie boards. Take one along with you and have a beachside picnic!
Café Eugenia also caters for parties, so if you’re planning to host, they’re a great option. Let them do the work of making a charcuterie board for you!
Salty Dog Seabrook Island
Have you heard of the world-famous Salty Dog? We’re lucky to have a location right here in Seabrook. It’s also a dog-friendly restaurant, so if you’re staying in one of our pet-friendly rentals, it’s the perfect pick. They even have a gallery of all their doggy visitors!
You can catch a gorgeous sunset from the pier at the Salty Dog while you enjoy classic staples like fish and chips, fish tacos, or bow-wow shrimp. Make sure to stop by for happy hour from 4 to 6 PM daily!
Sunrise Bistro
Sunrise Bistro is a classic restaurant over on St. John’s Island. You’ll probably pass right by it on your drive into Seabrook!
The bistro is known for its simple approach to food—they make comforting food without the fuss, like your mother would make it. Breakfast favorites (available all day) include French toast, enchiladas rancheros, homemade bagels, open-faced omelets, and breakfast pizzas. It’s a local favorite, but don’t just take our word for it! Check it out for yourself on your trip here in Seabrook.
Tattooed Moose
Head over to Tattooed Moose on St. John’s Island for fantastic happy hours, live music, and great beer. Tattooed Moose offers delicious pub food like duck fat fries (French fries hand cut and fried in duck fat), homemade pimento cheese, jumbo wings, or even a basket of corn dogs. In short, they serve up delicious fried food in all its glory. There are salad options if that’s more up your alley, though!
If you can leave any room for dessert, try the Big Ole Chocolate Cake or one of the rotating cheesecakes. There are also soft-serve ice cream cones! Beyond the craving-inducing food menu, Tattooed Moose has plenty of drink options, too. Enjoy specials like $2-$3 beers from 4-7 PM, Monday-Saturday.
There are even exciting events like an Oyster Roast and a regular live music schedule on Wednesdays from 6-9 and Saturdays and Sundays from 3-6. Have we convinced you to try this place yet? We sure can’t wait to go.

When you think of South Carolina, you think of sunny shorelines, gorgeous ocean views, and plentiful activities and things to do. This scenic southern state is all that and more, and it’s a great place to visit year-round! Have you ever considered a snowbird rental in South Carolina?
Seabrook Island is not just a summer vacation destination. In fact, it’s a popular destination for many snowbird renters! Let’s explore some of the reasons why you should consider a snowbird rental in South Carolina!
What is Snowbird Renting?
Snowbird rentals provide a warm getaway for those who live in colder states. Many snowbird renters are retirees, but with the takeover of remote work over the last few years, just about anyone can decide to travel somewhere for the winter and stay in a long-term rental!
These “snowbirds” often come back to the same destination, and maybe even the same rental, year after year, and discover a home away from home in a new location. Are you dreaming of being a snowbird renter now? That dream could become a reality here with Coastal Getaways.
Why Should You Choose a Snowbird Rental in South Carolina?
South Carolina is a perfect place for snowbird rentals for many reasons! Let’s explore a few.
Mild Temperatures
Seabrook Island has relatively mild temperatures all year. If you’re used to the icy winter weather up north, it’ll feel like a tropical paradise here! Okay, maybe that’s a little far. But we swear, the weather is nice and temperate, and you won’t be freezing your toes off. In the mornings and evenings, you’ll undoubtedly need a sweater to cozy up in, but the refreshing sea breeze more than makes up for the slight chill in the air.
Here are the average temperatures on Seabrook Island in the off-season by month:
November:
Highs: 69°F Lows: 53°F
December:
Highs: 63°F Lows: 47°F
January:
Highs: 60°F Lows: 44°F
February:
Highs: 62°F Lows: 46°F
March:
Highs: 68°F Lows: 52°F
Beautiful Scenery
One of the main reasons people decide to travel somewhere warm for the winter (besides the weather) is the change of scenery. Trade in your dreary winter landscape for a beautiful oceanfront view! Even though it’s too chilly to swim (unless you’re feeling super brave), you can still take in absolutely breathtaking views as you take a stroll along the ocean or sit down in a beach chair and relax a bit.
Many snowbirds love beachcombing in the off-season on Seabrook Island. The quiet of the beach means there’s way less competition and distraction as you scour the beach for treasure. You never know what you’ll find when you spend some time combing through the sand here! If you do decide to go beachcombing, keep in mind that you should be conscious of the marine life around you. Don’t take any live sea creatures like starfish! You can also make a difference in the local community by disposing of any litter that might be around.
Snowbird Activities: Golf
This might be the most classic snowbird activity of them all. Golfing is a super popular activity for snowbird renters here on Seabrook Island! Looking to get out and golf? Lucky for you, we wrote a whole blog piece on the best golf Seabrook Island has to offer last month! Check out our post now, and get out on the course!
Tennis
Tennis is another classic snowbird activity here on Seabrook Island. Whether you’re a tennis expert or are looking to pick up a new sport, it’s a fun way to stay active in the winter.
Check out Seabrook Island’s Racquet Club for more information on how you can get involved in tennis. They offer informative lessons for everyone from beginners to seasoned players, 15 state-of-the-art Har-tru courts, challenging clinics, and a range of leagues from social to competitive.
No equipment? No problem! You can also rent equipment from them, so your lack of a racquet doesn’t need to hold you back.
Horseback Riding
Looking for a new way to get around the island? Live out your equestrian dreams and go on a horseback ride!
Again, you don’t already have to be an expert to participate in this snowbird activity. They offer lessons for beginners and those of all skill levels! Bring along some apples and carrots to feed the grazing horses at the Equestrian Center, and try your hand at riding one of these equine beauties.
The staff at the Equestrian Center are highly experienced professionals, so you have nothing to worry about, even if you’re new to the world of horses. Horseback riding is a fun and unique way to see the island from a new vantage point, and we’d highly encourage you to try it!

Ready to tee up? Let’s explore the best golf on Seabrook Island!
Crooked Oaks Golf Course
Ah, if you’re feeling like you want to get out on the course for a nice relaxing day of golf, this is the course for you. Crooked Oaks offers a fairly traditional layout, with towering oak trees lining its fairways and undulating greens that require careful reading.
Designed by golf legend Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course is challenging but fair, with wide fairways that are forgiving to those who may not always hit it straight off the tee. However, the approach shots are where you’ll need to bring your A-game, as the greens are well-protected by bunkers and water features.
They host group golf outings if you’re looking to plan an event, and also offer instruction if you’re looking to improve on your game—take a lesson by yourself or join one of their couples classes!
Ocean Winds Golf Course
If you’re looking to play a round with a true coastal feel, Ocean Winds Golf Course is a must-play. This course, also designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., takes you right up to the Atlantic Ocean, with several holes offering impressive oceanside views. It’s a par-72 course that combines natural beauty with a layout that challenges all skill levels.
Ocean Winds is particularly known for its ever-present ocean breeze, which can turn an ordinary hole into a real test of skill. The back nine, in particular, brings you closer to the coastline, where the wind becomes a significant factor. This course demands both power and finesse, making it an engaging experience for golfers of all abilities.
Stono Ferry Golf Club
Did you know you can play a whole round of golf here for free every day of your Seabrook Island vacation when you book direct with Coastal Getaways? It’s true! Stono Ferry has partnered with us for our free coastal adventures program, which offers free activities every day of your Seabrook Island Stay.
Free golf? You don’t have to tell us twice, especially at a course as beautiful as Stono Ferry. Voted one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of our offer and spend some time out on the course here!
Stono Ferry describes their course as a “club inspired by your dreams”, and we can see why—the course is breathtakingly scenic. After you’ve played your round, stop by the Stono Grill for a bite to eat. They’re open for breakfast and lunch every day of the week and serve up the perfect post-game meal.
Interested in planning your game ahead? You can take a virtual tour of the course here, hole by hole.
Osprey Point Golf Course
Osprey Point is a can’t miss course when you’re visiting Seabrook Island. Just a short drive away in Kiawah, this course is a true hidden gem here in South Carolina.
Course architect Tom Fazio helped with the complete renovation of Osprey Point in 2014. The course constantly gets raving reviews for its playability, natural beauty, and uniquely challenging holes. Each hole is memorable, with four challenging par-3s, four extremely distinctive par-5s and ten outstanding par-4s ranging in length from 340 to 461 yards.
The course is always in pristine condition and, and also boasts an impressive, elegant clubhouse as well. After you’re done your game, visit the clubhouse (affectionately called Osprey’s 19th hole) and see if you can spot one of the course’s famous alligators from the veranda! You can also have a delicious post-game meal at the club’s Cherrywood BBQ & Ale House.
